TriPoint-AFFINITY is launching at the start of the 2025 school year as TriPoint's second micro-school in San Antonio, Texas with a mixed-aged group of 40 students in grades 3-5. AFFINITY intentionally creates a culture and space for students that fosters strong relationships representative of a family. We have a strong community of families that are active in our school who came to us seeking smaller, safer, more personalized learning environments.

Why "AFFINITY"?
Affinity: A similarity of characteristics suggesting a relationship, especially a resemblance in structure between animals, plants, or languages; a relation between biological groups involving resemblance in structural plan and indicating a common origin
AFFINITY as a school entails a structural extension of TriPoint's mission, vision and values. Sharing in its beliefs about students, AFFINITY authentically drives all students to reach their full potential. Its mascot, the axolotl, represents shared experiences in learning and development among AFFINITY families, an integral part of the connective experiences that they will bring to personalize their approach to Critical Thinking, Connections and Change.

Jimmy Agnew
Learning Facilitator
Jimmy is a lifelong educator, coach, leader, and learner. He is entering his 22nd year in education and first at TriPoint Academy in his hometown of San Antonio, TX. As a teaching school leader, he has launched multiple innovative community initiatives including founding The Wheelhouse, an inclusive maker-space to support Project Based Learning at The Gathering Place and produced an award-winning school documentary that centered unicycling as a way to promote growth mindsets for children across Texas, Colorado, and North Carolina. He values the importance of connecting classroom learning with meaningful real-world experiences. His teaching philosophy is rooted in community, connection, and learning through critical thinking and constructive play. He prides himself on creating welcoming child-centered environments that are safe, warm, and encouraging for all learners.
Along with his partner and their three boys, JImmy enjoys bus building, backcountry camping, hot yoga, and human-powered travel, (two wheels, one wheel, and no wheels). Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Texas Lutheran University and a Master’s in Education from Texas State University. He is grateful for the opportunity to channel his extensive knowledge and experience into TriPoint Academy as a school that models inclusive innovation rooted in creative solutions, social awareness, and collaborative perseverance.
Adrienne Abrego

My name is Adrienne Abrego, and I’m a proud San Antonio native with over 16 years of experience as a dedicated teacher and educator. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Science and Kinesiology from Texas A&M University–Kingsville, and I’ve remained passionate about education ever since. I enjoy bringing creativity into the classroom and believe in the power of sharing knowledge to inspire a love of learning in every student. Outside of school, I’m an avid reader, love playing volleyball, and am a lifelong fan of the San Antonio Spurs. It’s an honor to work with your children and be part of their educational journey!
